Italian Group Visits Ghiaseddin Jamshid Kashani Science Park

A group of Italian experts in the field of biology visited Ghiaseddin Jamshid Kashani Science Park (GHJK) on the 6^th of May, 2019. The park was recently set up and launched by Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) in Kashan, also known as the city of roses in Isfahan Province.

GHJk Science Park officials organized visits to a number of their knowledge based companies and the department of Natural Essences at Kashan University for the group.

The visit also included meetings with the park officials on possible ways for future cooperation and a specialized session for discussions about how to improve the efficiency of agricultural irrigation especially in the case of Damask Rose Agriculture.

Iran is the top exporter of rose water in the world as stated by the head of Rose Water and Herbal Essences Union in Kashan. Iran produced 30,000 tons of rose water in Kashan in the year to March 20, 2018 and the figure is expected to reach 33,000 tons this year.

In addition, 80 types of herbal essences are produced in Kashan. They are used to cure many kinds of ailments such as diabetes, kidney disorders, heart disease, obesity and depression.

Kashan is also internationally famous for manufacturing carpets, silk and other textiles.

With such a diverse market, the setting up of such a science park in Kashan was deemed appropriate by ISTT and was hoped to encourage and promote knowledge intensive start-ups and SMEs within the region.
